The Project Management Guide as a comprehensive tool
Objective : The aim of this class is to read thoroughly, understand and interpret the Project Management Guide – example taken from DG Justice. This entails the understanding that such document is in fact a comprehensive tool providing information on how to manage the various phases of a project.
Main target group: NGOs, including foundations and associations, trade unions and public sector (universities) as well as consulting companies working in development cooperation may be interested in this class. Independent consultants already working in the field may require an update as well as international grant-makers may find useful tips when setting reporting criteria. Experience and knowledge in international development cooperation are not requested. Having followed previous classes of this course facilitates the understanding of more complex parts of the document.
Structure: This class addresses in detail several phases of the management of a project, offering useful tips whenever required. Specifically, all relevant stakeholders in a project are clearly identified, together with their roles and obligations in project implementation and closure. Operational and financial aspects of project management, including the closure of the project – producing narrative and financial reports, presenting supporting documents to the EC – are also considered.
